With seismic shifts in the ways many Americans approach their jobs, and with 34 percent of Americans now working from home in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, experts are weighing how the contemporary office might look in the wake of novel coronavirus — and how the virus has fundamentally changed the relationship between employees and their workspace.
Some estimations suggest 30 percent of the workforce will continue to work from home on at least a part-time basis. Other future hypotheticals include companies taking a step back from “densified” workspaces and open floor plans, popular in shared offices and co-working spaces nationwide, in order to continue practicing distancing guidelines upon returning to work.
