Kate Horrell

I’m a wife, a mom, and a military spouse. I’m also a personal finance geek who loves debating the various benefits of different retirement savings options, or how to use coupons in the best way for your family, or whether now is the right time for someone to buy or rent a house. My passion is helping everyday folks use their money to do the things that are important to them. As a college student, I did all the wrong things with money. I spent most of my pay on unimportant things, I stretched my credit cards beyond their natural limits, and couldn’t be bothered to go to class. Marriage brought some focus to my finances. I didn’t want to be broke forever! I started in the financial education business through writing. I’ve been writing for over six years at Military.com’s The Paycheck Chronicles blog. There are over 1,600 posts there, so grab a cup of tea and have a read-through.
