Great question Eric! I think this is an area too often overlooked or not considered at all. When investment accounts have flows, in or out, the sequence of returns makes a dramatic difference in portfolio values. The issue for investors, and retirement investors in particular, is how to manage risk in the form of not being subject to needing to remove funds from an account during down periods.
