I’m only nineteen but am getting ready to do a will. I don’t have many assets but I do have a car and savings and I want some specific things done with that money. I also have a small life insurance policy and have designated a beneficiary.

Beneficiaries trump wills. So ASAP you should make sure your asset accounts have beneficiaries linked to them. It’s super easy to do. Though a will is handy for your belongings like cars, etc. I wouldn't be in a massive rush but it is good to have one.

I would think when there is a significant change in your assets to be inherited by next of kin or a significant change in your kin, be it through marriage or having kids or whatever else. It would probably also depend on how likely you are to die soon; if your job carries a risk of death (i.e. armed forces) then it would probably be better to write one sooner than later.
