If you aren't paying for daycare, the first few years of your kid's life are dang cheap. Like $1-2K. They don't need much other than a trip to the doctor, diapers, clothes and furniture all of which can be procured very inexpensively. After the toddler years the "How much" question is all about lifestyle. I would say it could be as little as $3-4K per year if you do public school, just one or two low cost activities, used clothes, cook at home etc. You also could easily spend 10X that amount.
