What makes credit cards safer to use than debit cards? Is it simply the different responses to theft that card type demands? Or, is there something inherent in the credit card itself that makes it more difficult to steal the information off of?

Your liability in case of theft is lower with credit cards, but the most important thing is that your debit card is linked to your bank account, and therefore if your debit card is compromised, your bank account can be emptied.
