If I get money from casual jobs like tutoring, should I report it to IRS?

There is a minimum income threshhold of something like $400 for self-employment, so if you’ve earned less than that, you’re in the clear.

Knowingly reporting your income innacurately is a federal crime, and an audit, even if you’ve filed correctly is a huge pain in the ass. I’m all for maximizing deductions, finding relevant credits, and managing your money to minimize taxation, but I would never recommend failing to report income.
