If I feel I am entitled to a tax return from a job I worked, does it matter if the job was in a different state than the one I file my taxes return from?

Carley, I think you are asking about tax refunds? If you have worked an money has been withheld from your paycheck, you will file a federal tax return in order to potentially get a refund if you are owed one. In terms of STATE income taxes, if you live in one state and work in another, you very likely owe income tax in both states. This is not easily answered and depends on the states involved. Tax preparation software that includes state tax returns will ask you a series of questions to help figure that out if you don't feel able to check out the rules for each state yourself.
