If I am in a car accident that is not my fault, my car is totaled, and neither of us carry collision insurance. Would the other person still have to pay for the damages, or am I responsible?

This is hard to generalize without knowing the states and the coverage, but my understanding is that the party at fault should have liability coverage to pay for your car. In addition, you might have “underinsurance” coverage which will help out if the other party doesn’t have enough liability coverage.
