How much money is too little to invest long term in mutual funds and low risk stock portfolios? $100? $500? more or less?

Hi Nathan! Thanks so much for writing! In my opinion, I don’t think any amount is too small. You can open an Etrade, Fidelity, Vanguard or other brokerage or mutual fund account for a very low or no minimum amount of money, and then you can set up an automatic payment from your bank account each month to invest and grow your money. You can have a regular account and/or an IRA if you like, and then you’ll be on your way to making your money work for you. A great, safe, non-sales website to learn more about investing is http://www.investor.gov. Best wishes to you and please write us if you have more questions.
