How do I avoid the freshman 15 without buying expensive foods outside of my meal plan?

Hey Liana. A lot of university dining halls have salad bars and other healthy options including fresh fruit. I would suggest carefully choosing the food you eat while you are there and then grabbing a piece of fruit to take with you if that’s allowed. It makes a good afternoon snack and you don’t have to spend any extra money buying something. It is also a good idea to incorporate some sort of daily exercise to avoid those extra pounds. Walking/jogging on campus doesn’t cost anything! You could also get involved in a campus sport or use the fitness center if there is one available to you. Just make it a part of your daily schedule.
