After graduating this year, I’m moving back to Wisconsin and will have to switch banks from the local credit union I used while in Oberlin to a bank or credit union at home. Will there be any fees (hidden or not) associated with this and is there anything I should watch out for when switching? In addition, will it be easiest to switch to a bank or another credit union?

Grace, you can switch banks now. There should be no fees, but you may need to show up in person to actually close the account. You can choose an online only bank and make the conversion before you leave Oberlin. You can try http://www.findabetterbank.com to see which banks (including online banks) might best meet your needs and cost you the least. Once you start a job, be sure to set up direct deposit for your paychecks. This SHOULD get you a free checking account.
