Derek Hagen is a financial planner and coach, and founder of Hagen Financial, who works with couples and individuals who want to be more mindful with their money, live intentionally, and make a change. Derek facilitates financial health by helping clients develop a healthy relationship with money, overcome resistance to change, decrease their financial stress, and improve their net worth over time. Derek is also the founder of Money Health, a personal finance education website. Derek has worked in financial services for over 15 years and makes it his number one priority to simplify money matters, using plain English. He is highly trained in financial planning, financial counseling, financial psychology, behavioral finance, and financial behavior. Derek earned a bachelor of arts degree (Summa Cum Laude) in economics from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a graduate certificate in financial psychology from Creighton University. He holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), Certified Financial Behavior Specialist® (FBS®), and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations and is a member of CFP Board, Financial Planning Association, Financial Psychology Institute, Financial Therapy Association, Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education, and CFA Institute. In his spare time, Derek enjoys playing squash and all things outdoors, especially camping, hiking, and running.
